Personnel working in the
affected area were protected
through the use of approved
"Personal Protective
Equipment" which included
full protective suits, HEPA
filtered full-face masks and
double layers of gloves.
Equipment was disposed of
and/or cleaned whenever the
workers left the area.
Removed debris was bagged
inside the affected area
taking care not to disturb the
molds and fungal growth any
more than necessary.
The bags were sealed and
then passed through the
access door into the
decontamination chamber
where the exterior of the
bags were wiped with a
mildewcide. The bags of
debris were then passed out
of the decontamination
chamber and collected for
disposal.
Debris removed included
ceiling tiles, wall paper,
drywall, insulation and
carpeting.
After all of the effected
materials were removed,
the structure framing was
scrubbed with a mildewcide.
The dehumidifier continued
to dry the wooden structure.
Once dried, the framing was
sanded and vacuumed
using a HEPA filtered
vacuum.
When the framing reached
an acceptable dry level, the
framing was sealed to
encapsulate any residual
mold or spores.
